Belle Isle is a collection of mid-century neighborhoods located in the middle of downtown Oklahoma City and Edmond. Most of the homes are ranch style and offer an easy living feel yet leave room for architectural changes conducive to today’s lifestyles. The lot sizes are generous and values continue to see an upward trend as location, neighborhood and nearby amenities increase the desire of many to live in the neighborhood. It is generally priced from $200,000 to $400,00 with many homes less and more expensive, especially on bordering streets and neighborhoods. It is located just south of Nichols Hills divided by NW 63rd. It is one of the highest price per square foot areas in Oklahoma City.
It is known as one of the most convenient areas of town to live in and enjoy all levels of shopping from high end to large box stores and also favorite destination grocery stores: Whole Foods, Sprouts, Homeland and smaller speciality stores including Mediterranean Deli, Forward Foods, and Soup Soup. Belle Isle is a loose term that locals use to group an area of several neighborhoods together. Wileman’s Belle Isle is an area of 535 homes bordered by NW Expressway to NW 62nd Street and N. Villa to Pennsylvania. It has a very active neighborhood association with a full board and many active neighbors. Some of the benefits to living in this particular section of Belle Isle is the association’s annual Garden Tour in June, Oktoberfest picnic, Yard of the Month, Christmas Lighting Contest and the benefit of the Oklahoma City Police and update duty patrolling paid for by the neighborhood voluntarily. Belle Isle West is bordered by NW Expressway to NW 63rd Street, and Villa to N. May Ave. Westridge Hills and Country Club Riviera are both sections of the Belle Isle West neighborhood. They operate under a very active neighborhood association that has an annual neighborhood garage sale, most years joins WBI in their garden tour, Neighborhood Night Out and more. Wileman’s 8 is across NW 56th Terrace and Pennsylvania to the east. It is a quaint area of 99 homes that has it’s own neighborhood association by the same name as it’s neighborhood.
Penn Square Mall and Integris – Baptist Medical Center are two large employers and community draws. Penn Square Mall is one of Oklahoma’s most upscale shopping malls with retailers like Apple, J. Jill, Coach, Michael Kors, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma plus major department stores: Dillard’s, Macy’s, and J.C. Penny’s. Penn Square is also one of the city’s most popular malls and constantly ranks among the most profitable malls in the country. Also nearby is Lake Hefner, a favorite spot for spots and dining: many restaurants line the shore and bikers and joggers enjoy with a trail system around the entire municipal reservoir. The entire area is located within Oklahoma City limits and ten minute commute to downtown.
Northwest Expressway, the city’s main artery to the northwestern suburbs, is a retail filled, restaurant bearing, six-lane boulevard with highway intersections, hotels, restaurants, and office towers scattered along at various intervals. The Northwest Expressway Corridor includes most of the large scale high-rises, office towers, and hotels outside of downtown, (including the architecturally interesting 360 at Founders Plaza).
The area contains several large employeers. The medical world has a significant presence in the area with both Integris-Baptist Medical Center and Deaconess Hospital headquartered within blocks of each other. Other businesses of interest include Valliance Bank, First State Bank, Chesapeake Energy and Ackerman McQueen Advertising. Many energy related businesses have offices in the area.
